DETERMINANTS OF LEVERAGE IN EMERGING MARKETS: EMPIRICAL EVIDENCE

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relationship between leverage and its main determinants in Argentine context, using trade-off theory pecking order theory. Studies that have addressed issue emerging economies are still quite rare results incomplete controversial. To identify companies be analyzed, we used a stratified sampling methodology, following an economic criterion. balance sheet data were collected through questionnaire normalized neutralize effects high inflation. period analyzed 3 years concerns 181 companies. research hypotheses tested static fixed (FE) model. contribute existing literature, providing further empirical evidence on financial behaviour firms as yet unexplored context.
